History of Tung Fort
Tung Fort was built before the 1600s and later became part of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Maratha Empire. Due to its narrow mountain shape, the fort was called Kathingad. It served as a watchtower protecting the Pawna Maval region and nearby forts like Tikona, Lohgad, and Visapur.
